A project 365 blog- a photo every day for a year. Mixing it up a bit by tracking the postcards I receive as well!

Day 43 baking
12 February 2012 - I bought a couple of punnets of blueberries earlier in the week and decided to use them up by making fresh blueberry muffins. Such a difference from frozen! There must have been a blueberry glut this year, they have been on special all month. This makes a nice change from the customary heart attack prices ($9.99 for 250 grams!)

Day 31- Fruitbox day!
31 January 2012- We get a fortnightly fruitbox, which forms the basis for our vegetable and fruit consumption. We have some control over the contents- there is a list of about 30 items, and we can choose 15. This box was eagerly awaited as we had run out of the essentials, such as apples and onions!.
Day 28- Just peachy
28 January 2012- We bought two trays of peaches from a fruit shop, with the intention of making some jam. It turned out to be a bit more than we thought- two batches of jam, a peach cake and grilled peaches, and we still had to throw half a tray away because the peaches went bad after a few days! The peach jam recipe is the Maggie Beer one from the cook and the chef.

Day 38- The last banana
7 February 2011 - There has been a cyclone up north, and the banana plantations are pretty badly hit. The last time this happened bananas ended up being something like $15 a kilo($30 a pound?). Anyway I barely ate bananas for about a year. The price has already started to rise in the shops, so when I spotted this banana in the work fruit basket I went for it. I thought it would be the last banana for a while, but my home fruitbox has them at the moment as well.
